Turks and Caicos - Island in the sun
For my 30th birthday I wanted Damir to surprise me so he worked with our amazing travel agent, Jamie, and booked a top secret bday trip. Unfortunately a few months before he had some weird charges on his credit card so when we were going full on investigative mode it tracked back to a hotel in Turks and when I let him know he replied "no, I booked Turks on my other card". I cried. lol. Although I was super excited I had been so set on it being a surprise...that all quickly faded and the countdown began!
Like St. Lucia we did a stop in Miami on the way to break up the flights. We did a red eye so we were in Miami bright and early! We stayed at the Faena and it was one of the most captivating hotels. I LOVED it. Not only did we have an amazing steak dinner at Los Fuegos we thoroughly enjoyed lounging at the beach club and visiting our prehistoric chic friend. If you know, you know.
The next day we were off to Turks. This flight is shorter than to St. Lucia, about an hour and a half. Once we deplaned we made our way to our car service which took us to this dock for our private boat transfer. We were greeted with champs and snacks and I was more than here for it. The turquoise water was also right up my alley. We boated over to our resort which is on a it's own private island - Parrot Cay. Como Parrot Cay is the only resort on the island (besides also having residences, Rumor Willis was there at her dad's compound when we were there, hey girl hey!) But the hotel itself only has 74 rooms and suites which makes it feel so intimate and private.
Our room was perfect. The weather was tropical and perfect. The welcome drinks were of course, perfect. We headed down to the beach, (which also please note the whole time we were there (5 days) there was only ever one other couple on the beach with us and that was one day). INSANE. Like hello, I live on a private island with my dream man. 30 was looking bright.
Every day we went down to the beach or to the infinity pool. It was sunny and warm and the water was crystal clear. I have to be honest, I am not a big ocean swimmer when I can't see my feet. As an avid shark week viewer, I know too much. The water in turks is hands down my favorite ocean water. We kayaked one day, rode bikes to a coconut plantation (fun, right?) and explored the island. The resort and staff were amazing and the overall experience was unreal.
Faves: All the fish (freshly caught), jerk chicken wings, specialty rum drink, fried plantains, spicy hot sauce (they make it in house)
I would go back to Turks in a heartbeat. We try not to repeat vacations but next time I definitely want to check out Amanyara.
